What is The UFC Apex?

If you’ve been watching fights over the past year or so you may be wondering what is this UFC Apex place where a bunch of these events have been taking place recently.

Well, The UFC Apex is a 130,000 square foot live events and production center that is located in Enterprise, Nevada. The facility was opened on June 18, 2019, and is owned by the UFC directly. The location of The UFC Apex was chosen because of how close it is to the UFC Performance Institute, which is located across the street and serves as the UFC’s headquarters.

Building this facility is without a doubt one of the most beneficial things the UFC has ever done. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic it’s been difficult to host events in arenas and the UFC has had to host behind closed door events. If the UFC never built this facility, then it may have not been able to host as many events as it has during this pandemic. 26 events have been hosted in the facility from May 30th to the most recent one which took place March 6th.

Something notable about The UFC Apex is that the cage in the facility has a 25 foot width which is 44% smaller than the usual 30 foot wide cages. Many fans believe that this smaller cage has resulted in faster pace and higher volume fights. It’s also believed that the smaller cage has resulted in more finishes, which is something fans always love to see.

Luckily, this facility has led to us not having months where fights couldn’t take place because of COVID-19. I’m personally thankful that they built this facility and have been able to provide us some great entertainment through these difficult times.
