The PFL has Signed Thiago Santos

Ray Sefo, president of PFL, notified ESPN that the PFL has signed former UFC title contender Thiago Santos to an exclusive deal with the promotion.

The 38 year old fighter will be making his PFL debut in the promotions 2023 season. Santos will be competing in the 205 pound division and will make an attempt at winning the PFL tournament championship purse of one million dollars. 

The Brazilian fighter is well known for coming close to dethroning Jon Jones in their five-round title fight. During that title fight Santos experienced a serious knee and hasn’t really looked the same ever since. However, prior to his exit from the UFC he was still the number nine ranked fighter in the UFC’s light heavyweight division. 

Thiago Santos (22-11) is currently 1-5 in his last six fights and is hoping to get back to his winning ways in the PFL. His losses in these past six fights happened against Jon Jones, Glover Teixeira, Aleksander Rakic, Magomed Ankalaev, and Jamahal Hill. The most recent victory Santos has obtained was against Johnny Walker on October 2, 2021. 

Santos had 24 fights within the UFC cage and it shall be interesting to see if he can win the $1,000,000 prize in the PFL’s 2023 season.
