Tim Elliot said what?
If you were watching the recent event, UFC 259, you may have caught the early prelims. The headliner for the early prelims was a bout between Tim Elliot and Jordan Espinosa, which ultimately saw Elliot secure a dominant decision with two 30-25 scores by the judges.
Whats interesting is not the fight itself but what occurred during the closing moments of 2nd round. Elliot had top control when he began talking to his opponent, Espinosa, but not in your typical invective tone that fighters usually take. After analyzing the clip it seems the conversation goes as follows:
Elliot:“I heard you beat a girl in 2018” he said. “Youre a woman beater?”
Espinosa:”No.”
Elliot:”youre a fucking little woman beater, she messaged me.”
Epinosa:”did she? You don’t know the whole story.”
Elliot:”I know enough.”
Espinosa:”You don’t know shit.”
The acknowledgment by Espinosa seems to show some semblance of truth behind the claim. Espinosa's manager however, Bryan Hamper, has since called the accusation wreckless slander and said they will not be commenting on the situation.
During his post-fight interview Elliott told reporters, "I didn't say that for anybody else to hear, because I don't know the whole story." He says he was messaged texts and photos between Espinosa and a woman, which contained photos of the woman with choke marks around her neck. "It's not something I wanted the whole world to hear. That was supposed to be between him and I. I didn't know the mic was going to pick up on it."
This ultimately plants a seed in the MMA Fandom that could be damaging for Espinosa's career in the long run, and whether its true or not at this point, there doesn’t seem to be a clear answer.
