Tim Elliot Reveals reason for withdrawal from UFC on ESPN 38

Tim Elliot (17-13) had a date on June 25th with Amir Albazi (14-1) in a ranked Flyweight contest. Unfortunately, news broke a week ago of Elliots withdrawal from the contest without a disclosed reason. Yesterday, Ellliot himself came out and revealed he was suffering from a torn ACL and Meniscus. It appears to be a pretty serious injury as Elliot has indicated he’ll need surgery this Saturday, ironically the same day his fight was supposed to take place.

Recovery time for an ACL tear can take anywhere from six to nine months. This withdrawal is only the second in Elliots UFC career spanning a decade. For his opponent Albazi, this marks his fourth cancelled bout of six scheduled matchups since his UFC signing. He’s currently rebooked to face the current UFC Flyweight champions brother Francisco Figueiredo on a stacked UFC 278 card in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 20th. UFC on ESPN 38 will continue on June 25th with 12 fights and Tim Elliot will have a date with his surgeon at the same time as he undergoes surgery. Hopefully all goes well and we see him back as soon as possible
