Jon Jones Arrested in Las Vegas After UFC Hall of Fame Induction

On Friday, September 24, 2021, Jon Jones was arrested on two charges: a misdemeanor battery domestic violence, and injuring or tampering with a vehicle. (The latter of the charges is a felony.)

Jones was released later that evening on $8,000 bail and is due back in court on October 26th. Jones was apprehended by the Las Vegas Metro Police Department less than 12 hours after his first fight with Alexander Gustafsson was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. During the arrest Jones became irate and smashed his head into the front hood of the police car. The head butt caused a medium sized dent and chipped paint on the car, which led to the felony charge of tampering with a vehicle.

According to the police report, the woman involved in this incident told police that Jon was only a little physical with her. That he didn’t hit her, but that he did touch the back of her head and pulled her hair. However, the woman had blood on her clothing and lip along with a bump. There was also apparently blood on the bed sheets in the hotel room and a red mark on the woman’s upper right cheek.

According to the police report, Jones outright denied ever touching the woman to police and had difficulties remembering certain points of the night. Police stated that Jones said that he would like to take the arresting officers all on to see what they could do. The officers told jones that they weren’t joking around and that he would be tased if he made attempts to resist arrest.

Jones hasn’t been in the octagon since his bout with Dominick Reyes, which took place on February 8, 2020. Issues with the law and substance abuse are sadly nothing new for Jon Jones. Jones has failed two drug tests during his MMA career, gotten several DUI’s, and was involved with a felony hit and run back in 2015.
