Fighter to Keep an Eye on: Bo Nickal

Fighter to Keep an Eye on: Bo Nickal

Bo Nickal is a former freestyle and folk style wrestler who now competes at middleweight in MMA. In freestyle wrestling, he obtained the 2019 U23 World Championship and the US Open National Championship. Bo was also a finalist at the US Olympic Team Trials and a Final X contestant in 2019.

His wrestling career gets even more impressive when you begin to analyze what he did as a collegiate wrestler. Bo Nickal was a 3 time NCAA Division I National Champion and a 3 time Big Ten Conference Champion out of Pennsylvania State University. His record in NCAA Division I competition is 120-3, which is not something you see everyday and is impressive to say the least. In other words he is practically the definition of elite level wrestling and has brought those talents to the MMA world.

Nickal made his professional MMA debut back in June 2022, with an impressive first round KO over John Noland in iKON FC 3. Nickal’s second fight happened recently on August 9, in Dana White’s Contender Series 49 where he defeated Zachary Borrego via submission (rear naked choke) in the first round.(The finish can be seen below this paragraph.) His performance on the contender series made it quite clear that Bo Nickal is going to be a big deal in the UFC. In my opinion it appears as if he is capable of doing anything he feels like doing.

The question is not will Bo Nickal be a UFC fighter, the question is will Bo Nickal be the greatest UFC fighter of all time? What do you think? Does Bo have the ability to achieve greatness in MMA? Let us know your opinion in the comments.
